What are the perks of your job? Believe it or not, I love the challenge of addressing public demands – they are all different and I never get bored!

What is the most unusual or fun thing you’ve done in your job? I love being able to travel around Brisbane while going out on inspections and meet people from different fields.

What inspired you to choose a career in this area? The chance to build a better future for the community by providing good infrastructure, and my love for the outdoors

How did you get to where you are now? My passion for science and technology, my determination and my sociable nature

Who or what has been an inspiration to you? My mum and my love of "building" and putting pieces together since I was a child (Lego, jigsaw puzzles).

What’s the best advice you’ve been given? Never "burn" any bridges as one day you may have to cross it again. That is, don’t offend or cause harm to anyone.

What training/qualifications do you have/need? Bachelor in Civil Engineering or you can have a Bachelor in Civil Technology and work your way up later.

What subjects did you study at school? English, Physics, Chemistry, Maths B, Advanced Maths (not compulsory pre-requisite for entering Civil Engineering course in university)

What are your career goals/plans for the future? Be involved in a major construction project and retire early (at 40 yrs of age).

What career opportunities are there for people in your field? One is not confined to just do engineering. It is recognised that civil engineers are managers of projects and therefore can work in most other fields, with little or no extra study.

What is the average starting salary for a graduate? $35-45K, $60K or more if you are willing to work in remote areas like Roma/Emerald/Cloncurry
