What does your job involve? The maintenance of electrical, instrument and radio systems on the Bell 206B Kiowa helicopter.

What do you like most about your job? Finding problems in faulty systems.

What is the most unusual or fun thing you’ve done in your job? I’ve flown in a helicopter.

What inspired you to choose a career in this area? My interest in flight and my other great interest in electronics.

How did you get to where you are now? By applying for the job – all you have to do is give it a go!

Who or what has been an inspiration to you? My year twelve physics teacher who encouraged my interest in electronics.

What’s the best advice you’ve been given? If you’re not enjoying what you’re doing, do something about it.

What training/qualifications do you have/need? Certificate in avionics trade from Riverina Institute of TAFE, and the completion of my NAC (National Aeroskills Competancy) Journal, which takes about four years all up.

What subjects did you study at school? Physics, Maths B&C, Chemistry and English

What are your career goals/plans for the future? I’d love to own and operate my own aircraft maintenance facility.

What career opportunities are there for people in your field? There are extremely exciting opportunities in avionics, and there is the possibility of work overseas.
