Who do you work for? Queensland Health, at Ipswich Hospital

What does your job involve? Assessing, identifying and treating different types of bone injuries. This might include muscle and bone injuries, foot injuries and sport injuries. I work with patients who are in intensive care, who have recently had surgery or who are in rehabilitation after an accident.

What do you like most about your job? Aiding people to get back home and be independent after an injury.

What are the perks of your job? The training and conferences and it’s easy to get jobs overseas and in Australia.

What inspired you to choose a career in this area? An interest in sport and the human body.

How did you get to where you are now? After finishing my studies I worked for one year in the physiotherapy division at the Townsville General Hospital and then moved to where I am now, at Ipswich Hospital near Brisbane.

What’s the best advice you’ve been given? Do what you can; you can’t fix everything.

What training/qualifications do you have/need? Bachelor of Physiotherapy, University Queensland.

What subjects did you study at school? Chemistry, Maths I and II, Biology, Information Processing and Technology and English.

What are your career goals/plans for the future? To work overseas and become a specialist in an area (not sure which yet).

What career opportunities are there for people in your field? There are plenty of jobs and various areas of specialisation such as rehab, pediatrics and acute care.
