Helix Screen Saver
Staff Room

Hi, if we’ve not already met, my name is Helix. Most people know me as Double Helix, the structure of deoxyribonucleic acid or DNA, as you might know it.

I was discovered on 28 February 1953, when my scientist mates Jim Watson and Francis Crick, cracked my code (DNA).

I store the coded information that pretty much makes you who you are - what you look like and how your body functions and grows. Yep, and I’m the one who carries those family traits down through generations. “Thanks a lot” I hear some of you say.

Some people refer to me as “the molecule of life”, and who am I to argue with that. I’ve even got my own screensaver – why don’t you download it and we can hang out together.

You know, a career in science and technology can be a lot of fun – it can mean travel and a chance to make a real difference to other people’s lives – you could make a discovery that changes the way the world looks at things, you might even find another cool guy like me!

This Smart Future website can help you find a great career to match your interests. Go on….what are you waiting for?

It's been a pleasure chatting …see you around!
