- Australian Biotechnology Students Association (ABSA)
If you’re a student or graduate interested in a career in biotechnology, joining this professional association will open the door to events where you can meet people with similar aspirations, as well as attend career information sessions and receive a bi-monthly newsletter.
Undergraduate and postgraduate uni students, senior secondary school students and industry representatives are welcome to become members.

- The Australian Students’ Space Association (ASSA) Inc
This is a group of high school and uni students interested in space and who organise activities and programs to share this interest with other young people. These activities encourage meeting and networking with other students and national and international space related organisations.
- The CSIRO Student Research Scheme
This scheme provides the chance for senior secondary school students to experience some real life, hands-on science work under the guidance of a research scientist. After completing their project, students give a classroom presentation on their experiences.
Each year as part of the scheme more than 300 students work with scientists from 80 research institutions. For more information please contact the CSIRO Science Education Centre in your region.
- Double Helix Club
The Double Helix Club is a great way for students to get involved in science and technology.
Members receive the latest news on amazing science research in The Helix magazine, do heaps of their own exciting experiments, get the chance to work with some of Australia's leading scientists doing real research and join other kids in their local area at regular club events.
- The Macintosh Users Group Sunshine Coast Inc.
Anyone who owns or has an interest in Apple Macintosh computers and the Apple systems can join this group and get together once a month to share ideas, advice and knowledge. Whether you are a first time user or a hotshot computer programmer, this club has something for you. They often have entertaining and excellent speakers on a wide range of computer related topics. The group welcomes students.
- The Pine Rivers Computer Club (PRCC)
Pine Rivers Shire formed a computer club in 1988 to help members and the wider community who use computers at home or at work. The club is based in Pine Rivers but is open to everyone. Members are from other areas such as Caboolture, Aspley, Redcliffe and further a field.
Guest speakers are invited to talk and demonstrate their latest products. They also keep members up to date with what is happening in the world of computers in Australia and overseas. Members aged 13 years old and above are welcome.
- Women in Information Technology (WIT)
This is an exciting group that provides guidance, support, education and personal development for women in the information technology industry. WIT encourages meeting others in the industry, helps with career development and help to build a strong and smart IT industry for everyone.
WIT was developed in Brisbane in April 1997 by women who wanted to share their experiences and knowledge with other women in IT and have fun. Today, WIT is a vibrant and influential organisation with more than 450 members from industry, government and the education field. Students are welcome to join.
- Young Achievement Australia (YAA)
This organisation is a link between students in education and business, and runs programs to develop skills and knowledge of young people to better prepare them for their working lives.
Programs are provided for secondary and tertiary students, for youth at risk and unemployed, for Aboriginal and disadvantaged groups. You can participate in YAA programs free of charge.
- The Young Scientists of Australia (YSA)
YSA is a group of young adults who share a keen interest in science. There are about 200 members in Brisbane alone and YSA is growing into a lively and respected group that is becoming more and more well known within the scientific community.
Members of Young Scientists Australia join in on activities ranging from social events to science schools. As a member, you are kept up to date with newsletters. There is the opportunity to join committees or a team that demonstrates science experiments to school students. Anyone from year nine onwards is welcome to join.
